San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe Health Department | Alcohol & Substance Abuse Program

June brings four gatherings at the Health Department, from a Talking Circle on rites of passage to a Wellness Trip to the Grand Canyon to a cultural cooking demonstration. Anyone in the community is welcome.

All events are at 67 NW Maple Street, Tuba City, Arizona, unless noted otherwise.

June 4 — Talking Circle | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Rites of Passage and Change

Every life moves through seasons. Graduations, new chapters, losses, sobriety milestones, becoming a parent, becoming an elder. Talking Circle is a place to be heard without judgment, to make sense of the moment you are in, and to be reminded that you are not moving through it alone.

June 11 — Wellness Trip to the Grand Canyon | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Natural Herbal Insights, Meditation, and a Walk Together

A day on the land. We will share natural herbal insights, sit in meditation, and walk together at one of the most powerful places this country has to offer. If you would like to come along, please contact Virginia ahead of June 11 so we can plan transportation and seating.

June 18 — Health Education | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

NNSDP Diabetic Neuropathy with Kaden Granger, Health Educator

Partnering with the Navajo Nation Special Diabetes Program. Open to anyone living with diabetes or caring for a relative who is. Kaden will walk through what neuropathy is, why it happens, and what we can do about it, in plain language.

June 23 — Healthy Cooking | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Cultural Food Demonstration: Kinyaa'aanii Special with Fruit and Mixed Berry Compote

A hands-on session bringing cultural food knowledge back to the table. Come hungry, leave with a recipe you can carry home to your family.

How to Participate

Just show up for the events at the Health Department building. Contact Virginia ahead of time for the Grand Canyon Wellness Trip on June 11, so we can plan for the group. Bring someone. If you know a relative or neighbor who could use circle, movement, or a meal in community, invite them along.

A Note

If you or someone in your family is carrying something heavy, please reach out. You are not alone.

If you or someone you love is in immediate crisis, please call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours) or 911.
