San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe Health Department | Alcohol & Substance Abuse Program

June brings a full lineup at the Health Department — a Talking Circle, two Lunch & Learn sessions on the path to comprehensive care, a Father's Day health education gathering, and a cultural cooking demonstration. Anyone in the community is welcome.

All events are at 67 NW Maple Street, Tuba City, Arizona, unless noted otherwise.

June 4 — Talking Circle | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Rites of Passage and Change

Every life moves through seasons. Graduations, new chapters, losses, sobriety milestones, becoming a parent, becoming an elder. Talking Circle is a place to be heard without judgment, to make sense of the moment you are in, and to be reminded that you are not moving through it alone.

June 10 — Lunch & Learn | 12:00 – 1:00 PM

“Unraveling the Path to Comprehensive Care”

Come learn how treatment and care actually work. This presentation covers contemporary treatment options, referrals, and the available levels of care — including What is Treatment? and the Case Management Process. Open to all interested individuals, and a complimentary lunch will be provided. If you cannot make June 10, the same session runs again on June 30.

June 18 — Health Education & Father's Day Celebration | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

NNSDP Diabetic Neuropathy with Kaden Granger, Health Educator

We are honoring the fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and men who hold up our families, paired with a health education session in partnership with the Navajo Nation Special Diabetes Program. Open to anyone living with diabetes or caring for a relative who is. Kaden will walk through what neuropathy is, why it happens, and what we can do about it, in plain language.

June 23 — Healthy Cooking | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Cultural Food Demonstration: Kinyaa'aanii Special with Fruit and Mixed Berry Compote

A hands-on session bringing cultural food knowledge back to the table. Come hungry, leave with a recipe you can carry home to your family.

June 30 — Lunch & Learn (Second Session) | 12:00 – 1:00 PM

“Unraveling the Path to Comprehensive Care”

A repeat of the June 10 presentation for anyone who missed it — treatment options, referrals, levels of care, What is Treatment?, and the Case Management Process. Open to all, complimentary lunch provided.

How to Participate

Just show up for the events at the Health Department building. The Lunch & Learn on June 10 and June 30 is open to everyone, and lunch is on us — come as you are. Bring someone. If you know a relative or neighbor who could use circle, education, or a meal in community, invite them along.

A Note

If you or someone in your family is carrying something heavy, please reach out. You are not alone.

If you or someone you love is in immediate crisis, please call 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours) or 911.
