Elder care doesn't fail because people stop caring. It fails because systems create barriers that caring alone can't fix — transportation gaps, language barriers, underfunded programs, and fragmented services that were never designed with Native communities in mind.
On Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe Health Department invites you to the next Community Health Education event at 67 NW Maple Street, Tuba City, Arizona. This month's featured presentation — "Breaking Barriers in Elder Care" — will be led by Monica Begay from Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC).
Monica will address the real obstacles our elders face when navigating health care and what our community can do to close those gaps.
The event also includes a Creative Campaign — a hands-on space with art projects designed to spark conversation about health in a way that honors how our people have always processed life: through making, sharing, and gathering together.
A light cultural lunch will be provided.
Whether you work in health care, serve as a caregiver, or simply want to better understand the challenges our elders face, this event is for you. Health education works best when the whole community shows up.
