Section 1. Base Membership Roll.

The base membership roll is the official federal acknowledgment roll prepared in May 1984, and its supplements dated September 1985, October 1985, and December 1985. No additions or deletions may be made to the base membership roll.

Section 2. Current Membership Roll.

The current membership roll is the roll containing the names of alt living members of the Tribe. The Enrollment Officer shall insure that the current membership roll is accurate and up-to- date.

(a) The current membership roll shall be arranged in alphabetical order. For each member, the current membership roll shall include:
(1) enrollment number,
(2) sex,
(3) date of birth, and
(4) remarks. The remarks column shall indicate the name(s) and the San Juan Paiute enrollment numbers of the member’s parent(s) through whom eligibility for membership was established.
(b) The Enrollment Officer shall add to the current membership roll the names of all persons who apply and are accepted for membership.
(c) The Enrollment Officer shall remove from the current membership roll the names of persons who are deceased, who relinquish their membership in the Tribe pursuant to Article V, Section 1, supra, or who are disenrolled from the Tribe pursuant to Article V, Section 2, supra.
Section 3. Perpetual Membership Roll. The perpetual membership roll is the roll containing the names of all past and present enrolled members of the Tribe, beginning with the persons on the base membership roll. The Enrollment Officer shall insure that the perpetual membership roll is accurate and up-to-date.
(a) The perpetual membership roll shall be arranged in numerical order by enrollment number. It shall include all of the information included on the current membership roll, and it shall also have a column for date of death, date of relinquishment of membership and date of disenrollment.
(b) The Enrollment Officer shall add to the perpetual membership roll the names of all persons who apply and qualify for membership but no names shall ever be removed from the perpetual membership roll.

Section 4. Documentation for Updating Rolls.

Upon receipt of appropriate documentation, the Enrollment Officer is authorized to update the information on the current and perpetual membership rolls. The following documentation is deemed adequate for such actions to be taken:

(a) Name change - marriage license, divorce decree, court order changing name.
(b) Address change -- written statement signed by tribal member or his or her guardian.
(c) Death -- The death certificate is the preferred documentation. If this is unavailable, other reliable records may be used including mortuary records, hospital records, or a written, signed statement from someone who attended the funeral or who saw the grave marker and can provide date of death.
Any change for which none of the above records is available must be approved by the Tribal Council by resolution.
Section 5. Access to Membership Rolls. The Tribe’s membership rolls may be viewed by any member of the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe who comes to the tribal office. However, neither the membership rolls nor any portion thereof may be copied and/or distributed to any person or organization except upon permission of the Tribal Council by appropriate resolution. The Tribal Council shall use its discretion in using and/or releasing information from the rolls for the benefit of tribal members or tribal programs.
